The Revival of the Theatre Show “Hair” the Musical
On Saturday, March 12, 2011 we traveled to another classic theatre show called “Hair.” It was a show that I have never seen so I didn’t know what to expect.
We walked north, it was a beautiful sunny day, and visited the Coq d’or Restaurant and Bar in the Drake Hotel to see their new renivation, wow was it ever beautiul! Then we walked back to the Hancock Center and jumped on the elevator to the 95th Floor where we had a great lunch while overlooking ALL of Chicago from our table! Everyone needs to visit the Hancock Center at least once to have a thrilling experience.
We arrived at the Oriental Theatre for the 2:00 pm matinee of “Hair.” The music brought back memories from the 1970′s… “Let the Sun Shine In,” “Good Morning Starshine,” “Easy To Be Hard,” “Aquarius,” and the title song, “Hair!” The cast was outstanding, especially the lead gentleman named Berger… played by Steel Burkhardt. He had long dark hair and ran right out into the audience and sat and sang in the seat in front of my seat… yikes! His soulful voice and good looks were mezzmerizing. He looked like a creature of ZEN, in the show he lives in a Big Purple house with his mom and dad. It was a very colorful and compassionate show… a celebration of love, life and freedom. The end was a tear jerker with one of Berger’s friends being killed in the war.
Dinner was a light appetizer at “Harry Caray’s Restaurant,” … last time I was at this restaurant I ran into Ernie Banks… he’s HUGE but sweet as a pussycat! Lot’s of memories on this trip!
